Job Description

The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager - Tech to lead the delivery of complex, business-critical technology and transformation programmes within a leading law firm environment.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of managing large-scale technology implementations and upgrades, with particular expertise in practice management platforms including Aderant, Intapp and iManage. The role requires an individual capable of operating at both a strategic and delivery level, working closely with Partners, Business Services leaders, Technology teams, vendors and external consultants to ensure successful project outcomes.

The Senior Project Manager - Tech will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and achieve their intended business benefits.

Duties And Responsibilities Project and Programme Delivery

  • Lead the planning and delivery of complex technology and business transformation projects.
  • Manage projects through the full lifecycle, from business case development and initiation through to implementation, adoption and benefits realisation.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, RAID logs, governance documentation and status reporting.
  • Manage project budgets, resource plans and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure effective risk identification, mitigation and escalation.
  • Drive project execution whilst maintaining alignment with firm strategy and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across Technology, Risk, Finance, Knowledge, Operations and legal practice groups.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders including Partners, Practice Group Leaders and Business Services Directors.
  • Facilitate steering committees, working groups and governance forums.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear business language for non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate the gathering and analysis of user and business requirements and work with Technology teams to translate these into functional requirements
  • Challenge constructively and influence stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Manage competing priorities and maintain stakeholder alignment throughout project delivery.

Technology Transformation

  • Lead major technology deployments and upgrades relating to practice management systems and matter management solutions, AI rollouts, cloud migrations etc.
  • Work closely with solution architects, business analysts and vendors to ensure business requirements are translated into effective technology solutions.
  • Support data migration, testing, training and change management activities.

Governance and PMO

  • Ensure compliance with agreed project management standards and methodologies.
  • Produce high-quality reporting for executive sponsors and project boards.
  • Develop and maintain programme governance structures.
  • Track and report benefits realisation and business outcomes.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Significant project management experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proven track record delivering complex enterprise technology projects.
  • Experience managing projects with budgets exceeding £500k.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and implementation partners.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Desirable

  • Strong expertise in one or more of Aderant, Intapp, iManage
  • Comprehensive understanding of matter lifecycle management and processes, including client onboarding and conflicts management, time recording and billing, document and knowledge management
  • Good understanding of Regulatory and compliance requirements within legal services

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, MSP or equivalent certification preferred
