Job Description
Director of Marketing (Part-Time – 4 Days per Week) | eCom Challenger Brand | London / Hybrid
The Client
Our client is a fast-scaling premium challenger brand with strong early product-market fit and clear evidence of repeat, habit-led purchasing. Built around high-quality products, strong attention to detail, and a distinctive brand aesthetic, the business has quickly established itself as a standout name within a growing consumer category focused on modern lifestyle and everyday ritual.
The brand has already demonstrated its ability to acquire and retain customers efficiently through a combination of strong product demand and early-stage marketing performance. As the business enters its next phase of growth, the focus is now shifting towards building a more integrated marketing function that combines brand, performance, customer engagement, and commercial strategy to support sustainable scale
With increasing demand across DTC and growing interest from select physical stockists and strategic partners, the opportunity is to develop a marketing organisation capable of driving both short-term commercial performance and long-term brand equity. This requires a senior marketing leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational excellence, ensuring every marketing investment contributes to profitable growth.
The business is now looking to appoint a Part-Time Director of Marketing (4 days per week) to lead the overall marketing strategy and build a scalable marketing function. Reporting directly to the founders, this is a highly influential leadership role with responsibility for shaping the marketing vision, leading external partners, and ensuring all marketing activity aligns with the company's ambitious commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the overall marketing strategy across brand, performance, CRM, content, partnerships, and customer engagement
- Partner closely with the founders to define marketing priorities that support the next stage of business growth
- Oversee customer acquisition, retention, and lifecycle marketing, ensuring strong commercial performance across all channels
- Lead the performance marketing strategy across paid media while ensuring continued optimisation of CAC, ROAS, MER, and customer lifetime value
- Build a cohesive marketing roadmap that aligns brand building with measurable commercial outcomes
- Oversee agency partners and specialist freelancers, creating clear accountability, performance expectations, and delivery standards
- Champion customer insight and data-led decision making, using analytics to inform investment, experimentation, and future strategy
- Develop marketing budgets, forecasting models, and reporting frameworks to support effective resource allocation
- Work closely with creative teams to ensure brand consistency while driving high-performing campaigns across digital and owned channels
- Identify new opportunities across partnerships, retail marketing, influencer activity, referral programmes, and emerging acquisition channels
- Build the foundations for a scalable marketing function, establishing processes, priorities, and operating rhythms that support continued growth
What the Client Would Like to See
- Previous experience as a Marketing Director, Director of Growth, Head of Marketing, Head of Performance Marketing or similar senior marketing leadership role within a high-growth DTC or consumer brand (e.g. food, drink, health, wellness, personal care, cosmetics, fmcg)
- Broad marketing expertise spanning brand, performance marketing, CRM, customer lifecycle, and digital acquisition
- Experience developing marketing strategy while remaining comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels
- Strong commercial understanding with experience managing marketing investment against clear commercial objectives
- Demonstrable success scaling consumer brands through a combination of brand building and performance marketing
- Experience leading agencies, external partners, and cross-functional marketing initiatives
- Confidence presenting strategic recommendations to founders and senior leadership teams
What We Would Like to See
- A commercially focused marketing leader who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach
- Someone who enjoys working in entrepreneurial businesses where pace is high and priorities evolve quickly
- A collaborative leader who can influence across multiple functions and build strong stakeholder relationships
- Strong analytical capability balanced with excellent creative judgement
- A builder who enjoys establishing marketing capability, processes, and long-term strategy
- Motivated by the opportunity to help shape the future of a modern consumer brand during an exciting stage of growth
