Lifestyle Reporter
Jam Press | We Make The News
Job Description
Lifestyle Reporter – Remote (UK), full-time
At Jam Press, we tell the stories people can't stop reading.
We're a news agency that licenses human interest features, exclusives and breaking stories to some of the biggest media outlets in the world — think Mail Online, The Sun and beyond.
Our teams are good at what they do because they care about the people at the heart of every story. We're looking for a Lifestyle Reporter who gets that.
Someone who is naturally good with people – who puts a nervous case study at ease without thinking, who knows which interview line makes the whole piece sing, and who instinctively understands what makes a stranger want to open up about the hardest moments of their life.
You're comfortable in the world of tabloid journalism. You read, respect, and understand what it takes to make a story land on a front page or top a homepage.
Around 80% of the Lifestyle Desk's work consists of exclusives: health features, real life stories tied to the news agenda, sex, relationships, travel, money. These are features that need to make the reader feel something. Emotion is the engine.
Your ability to quickly build rapport and make someone feel safe in your hands isn't just a soft skill. It's the job.
Once you find the story, you know how to bring the case study along – earning their trust and securing their agreement to work with us exclusively.
You also know that a great interview isn't about the questions you prepared; it's about listening, reacting and following the thread that matters.
Every person who shares their story with us walks away feeling good about it. That's not a nice-to-have; it's who we are.
You're tenacious. You chase. You don't wait to be told what to do next.
Working remotely, you manage your own workload, communicate your progress, and proactively ask for help when needed, rather than waiting for someone to look for you.
News agency experience is preferred but we'll consider any candidate with strong, relevant experience.
How to apply
Send your CV and a cover letter to jobs@jampress.co.uk.
Your application must include three feature ideas you'd bring to morning conference — tabloid-focused, outlet-ready for Mail Online or The Sun, and story-led. Tell us the angle, tell us why it works.
We also want one sentence from you: What do you think is the single most important thing in feature writing? (Hint: The answer is in this ad)
- Applications that do not include the three ideas and the one sentence will not be considered.
