Azure Integration Services Specialist
Hancock & Parsons Ltd
Job Description
Azure Integration Services Specialist
Permanent | Remote (UK) | Competitive salary + benefits
Our client is a specialist Microsoft consultancy, trusted by some of the UK's most respected organisations across Higher Education, Finance, Public Sector and Professional Services to design, build and modernise complex integration platforms. They work directly with seasoned experts, not a revolving cast of junior developers and they're looking for someone who fits that mould.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role for someone who genuinely architects integration solutions rather than just configuring them.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing and building solutions across APIM, Service Bus, Logic Apps/Functions and Azure SQL
- Applying real integration architecture thinking: pub/sub, canonical models, idempotent upsert, ordering and throttling
- Making sound API design calls — when a simple proxy/facade is right, and when business-level orchestration is needed
- Owning complex integrations end to end, from high-level design through build, test and handover
What sets this role apart:
Our client works the way the best integration teams now work, pairing deep technical expertise with disciplined AI-assisted delivery. You'll need to:
- Use AI coding tools (Claude or similar) as a genuine daily working method, with real shipped work to show for it
- Write clear, well-structured specs, prompts and context files front-loading the right information rather than firing off vague requests
- Treat AI output as a draft, never as truth, applying a rigorous validate/test/QA loop to everything generated
- Review generated code with a security lens: leaked secrets, insecure patterns, injection risks, licensing concerns
- Understand and guard against the real failure modes - hallucinated APIs and plausible but wrong logic
How you'll work:
- Self-directed, comfortable taking rich context and running independently
- Strong written communicator - specs, mapping documents and developer/BA documentation come naturally
- Good judgement on when AI accelerates delivery, and when it doesn't
Desirable (not essential):
- BizTalk or other ESB/iPaaS experience (MuleSoft, etc.)
- Exposure to UK Higher Education systems (PeopleSoft, SITS) or similarly complex regulated environments
This is a rare opportunity to join a tight-knit, specialist team delivering serious integration work for high-profile clients, fully remote, with the autonomy to own your work end to end.
