Role Description The Health and Social Care Lecturer will deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across health and social care programs, ensuring that learners develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills relevant to the sector. Working on-site at the Birmingham campus in a full-time capacity, the lecturer will plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and workshops, as well as design learning materials and assessments aligned with institutional standards and regulatory requirements. The role includes monitoring learner progress, providing constructive feedback, supporting academic achievement, and maintaining accurate records of attendance and performance. The lecturer will contribute to curriculum development, participate in quality assurance activities, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practice and student support. Additional responsibilities include supporting learners with pastoral care needs, engaging with external partners where appropriate, and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in health and social care, with the ability to teach across relevant topics such as safeguarding, person-centered care, ethics, and professional practice.
• Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and assessment design, including the use of varied teaching methods and learning resources.
• Proficiency in classroom management, learner engagement, and inclusive teaching strategies that support diverse student needs.
• Competence in using digital tools and virtual learning environments to support teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills, with the ability to provide clear academic guidance and constructive feedback.
• Relevant academic qualification in Health and Social Care or a closely related discipline (typically at least a Master’s degree; a PhD is highly desirable).
• Teaching qualification or certification (e.g., PGCE, Level 5 teaching qualification) or willingness to work towards such a qualification.
• Professional or clinical experience within health, social care, or related services, and familiarity with current sector standards and best practices.
