Job Location: This role will ideally be based in our Head office in Bollington, UK. We are open to discussing flexible options.
The Role The Director, Systematic will provide strategic leadership for systematic literature reviews (SLRs), targeted literature reviews (TLRs), rapid reviews, evidence gap assessments, and liaise with the Data Analysis and statistics team to ensure smooth conduct of indirect treatment comparisons (ITCs) to support our pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and market access clients.
Key Responsibilities Literature Review and Evidence Synthesis
- Ensure all projects are delivered in accordance with current best practice and relevant guidance, including PRISMA, Cochrane, ISPOR, NICE, EUnetHTA/JCA requirements.
- Act as scientific lead on complex or high-profile client engagements and lead assigned projects with the team.
- Review and approve protocols, search strategies, screening approaches, extraction plans, evidence tables, and final reports.
- Provide strategic guidance on evidence generation plans and evidence synthesis approaches.
- Support cross-functional projects involving health economics and market access.
Business development and innovation
- Contribute to the commercial growth of the consultancy through proposal development and pitching activities.
- Lead or support competitive proposals for SLR and evidence synthesis projects.
- Develop strategic client opportunities and identify emerging market needs.
- Contribute to publications, conference presentations, white papers, and methodological research.
Team leadership and capability building
- Work with the senior leadership team to develop and implement a long-term vision for the systematic review function, developing a high-performing team of analysts, consultants, and senior consultants.
- Lead structured training programmes covering key topics within systematic reviews and evidence synthesis, such as evidence synthesis methodology, critical appraisal, evidence interpretation, and HTA requirements.
- Mentor team members through coaching, technical development, and career planning.
- Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Lead resource planning and workforce capability development in relation to systematic reviews, to support business growth.
About You Essential skills
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in a relevant subject, such as life sciences, health economics or public health
- Extensive experience leading systematic reviews and evidence synthesis projects for pharmaceutical clients.
- Strong understanding of HTA evidence requirements across major global markets.
- Experience managing and developing teams in a consulting or life sciences environment.
- Demonstrated success leading client relationships and complex project delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Typically 10+ years of experience in systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, HEOR, market access, or related consulting environments.
Desirable Skills
- Expertise in indirect treatment comparisons and network meta-analysis.
- Experience supporting HTA submissions, including NICE, CADTH, HAS, G-BA, and EU JCA processes.
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Experience implementing AI-assisted literature review workflows.
