The Role

As an Assistant Construction Manager, you will work closely with Construction Managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will play a key role in coordinating site activities, monitoring progress, managing documentation, and supporting the day-to-day running of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Construction Manager in delivering construction projects from start to finish.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating site activities.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site operatives.
  • Attend site meetings and contribute to project planning and problem-solving.
  • Help manage project documentation, reports, and records.
  • Conduct site inspections and assist with quality assurance processes.
  • Identify and escalate potential risks, delays, or issues.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.

About You

We're looking for a motivated individual who is eager to learn, takes initiative, and enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment.

Essential Skills &​ Experience

  • Experience within the construction industry in a supervisory, site coordination, project support, or similar role.
  • Understanding of construction processes and site operations.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements within construction.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications &​ Experience

  • Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • CSCS card.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
  • Experience working on commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
