We are looking for an experienced Senior Conference Producer &​ Team Leader to help grow our Drug Discovery Portfolios. This is a senior, hands-on role combining conference production, portfolio development and team leadership. You will create scientifically credible, commercially successful events by researching emerging life sciences trends, developing compelling programmes and building relationships with senior industry stakeholders. You will also lead and develop a small team of conference producers, providing direction, coaching and feedback while ensuring programmes are delivered to a high standard.

Role Responsibilities:

Conference Production

  • Manage the full conference production cycle, from research and validation to programme development and delivery
  • Research developments across biologics, biomedicines and drug discovery
  • Identify emerging topics and commercially attractive event opportunities
  • Create high-quality agendas for senior scientific and business audiences
  • Recruit influential speakers from pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic and technology organisations
  • Build advisory boards and maintain relationships with senior industry experts
  • Produce webinars, interviews and other year-round content
  • Attend webinars and oversee programme delivery on site
  • Attend all conferences produced and, alongside other team members, perform all event and speaker management tasks required to ensure the smooth running of the event

Team leadership

  • Lead, coach and motivate a team of conference producers
  • Set clear objectives, deadlines and performance standards
  • Review programmes and support producers with research, agenda development and speaker acquisition
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and provide constructive feedback
  • Help recruit, onboard and develop new team members
  • Build a collaborative and accountable team culture

Portfolio Development

  • Work closely with marketing, sales, sponsorship and operations teams
  • Ensure programmes meet audience needs and support commercial objectives
  • Analyse delegate feedback, market performance and competitor activity
  • Identify opportunities to launch new events and expand existing portfolios
  • Contribute to the long-term growth of the Drug Discovery brand

We are looking for someone with:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in conference production, content-led events or business intelligence, ideally within life sciences events.
  • Knowledge of, or a strong interest in, drug discovery, biologics, biotechnology or pharmaceutical R&​D.
  • Previous experience managing, mentoring or supervising conference producers.
  • A strong track record of producing successful B2B conferences.
  • Experience recruiting senior-level speakers.
  • Excellent research, writing, interviewing and communication skills.
  • The ability to understand complex scientific topics and translate them into engaging content.
  • Strong commercial awareness and project management skills.
  • A proactive, resilient and collaborative approach.

More about the role:

  • Salary : £40,000 – £49,000 PA (depending on experience), plus commission
  • Location

: All our roles are hybrid (a mix of remote and in office). Our offices are located on the Botley Road in Oxford, with shops/restaurants within walking distance and easy access into Oxford City Centre.

  • Job Type : Full time (37.5 hours a week)
